Principle of BAMS (BioAerosol Monitoring System )
According to Hill et al, Tyrosine, Tryptophan, Riboflavin (Vitamin B2) and Reducing Coenzyme I (NADH) are fluorescent substances that can be excited by laser light at certain wavelengths. In particular, (vitamin B2) and reduced coenzyme I (NADH), which are the hallmarks of metabolism in living organisms, have specific fluorescence emission bands under laser irradiation at certain wavelengths and can be used as markers for microbial assays. The BAM®S is a real-time monitoring instrument for planktonic bacteria based on the principle of laser-induced biofluorescence technology.
